This series follows a single thread: how analogy emerges in cognition and in large language models, and how we might begin to glimpse the latent domain behind it. It moves from first principles—analogy as analog primitive, coordinate space as digital harness—through reflexive experiments that ask frontier models to describe what they cannot yet name, toward instrumentation: probing the KV cache, reducing descriptions to minimal kernels, and listening for coherence events. The arc is speculative and incremental, grounded in epistemic humility rather than solved ontology.
Important note on the early chapters:
- Chapter 0 is the origin story — the SwiftUI “views are values” deconstruction that sparked the entire journey.
- Chapters 1–3 are me thinking out loud. They contain many exploratory ideas and incorrect assumptions as I was still trying to find my footing.
- Chapter 4 onward is where the series becomes significantly more grounded and coherent.
The early chapters represent the messy, speculative process of exploration. The later chapters reflect the refined thinking that emerged from it.
